Weed Dance

A pair of Great Crested Grebes (Podiceps cristatus) present weed to each other as part of their elaborate courtship display. Both birds dive down into the water and resurface carrying weed in their beaks. They then rush across the surface of the water towards each other. I captured this image at the point where the Grebes rear up out of the water, paddling frantically whist performing their display.
