Sedge Warbler

A Sedge Warbler (Acrocephalus schoenobaenus) singing to attract a mate at Cley Next-The-Sea, Norfolk. I set out to find my subject on a May morning in ideal conditions; a bright overcast day with a gentle breeze. By following the sound of the noisy, rambling, warbles coming from the reed beds it wasn’t long before I had found not just one but a number of possible subjects. Each one with its own unseen territory that it would fiercely protect from rivals. I decided to concentrate on this Sedge Warbler in particular because it was the most visible and liked climbing to the top of the tallest reeds. The main difficulty I had was getting a clean image free from distracting reeds.
