A female Mute Swan (Cygnus olor) gracefully glides across the dark water in the shadows of the trees at Whittlingham Lake, Norwich, England. I applied negative exposure compensation to ensure the highlights were correctly exposed and the dark water turned black. The cygnet, riding on its mothers back, kept a low profile safe and warm in its mother wings.
