Sanderlings on Wet Sand

A pair of Sanderlings (Calidris alba) pick their way across the newly revealed shoreline as the tide retreats at Winterton Beach, Norfolk. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly this little wading birds move as they frantically forage for food. Their speed and constant twist and turns makes them a challenging subject to photograph. I needed a very fast shutter speed of at least 2000/sec and a fair amount of luck to capture a sharp image.
