Sanctuary

A Grey Seal (Halichoerus grypus) takes time out in the dunes at Winterton, Norfolk. The dunes offer a valuable place of shelter especially for pups who are unable to swim, and want to avoid a rising tide, and for adults seeking sanctuary from the constant fighting and mating on the beach. On this occasion I found this bull hiding amongst the Marram Grass and took this image to show the importance of the dunes in the life of Grey Seals.
