Hunkered Down

A young Brown Hare (Lepus europaeus) hunkers down to avoid detection at Stiffkey, Norfolk, England. I converted the image to black and white to emphasise the contrast between the stiff vertical stubble and soft horizontal lines of its fur. The camouflage is only broken by its dark eye which peers out from its hiding place alert to potential threats and danger.
