2 - Chalk-hill Blue at Sunrise

2 - Chalk-hill Blue at Sunrise - Best of British Wildlife
Highly Commended BWPA 2014 - British Seasons Category
A Chalk-hill Blue butterfly warms up on a head of grass. I positioned myself to maximise the rim lighting that illuminates the feathery edges of its wings and the fine hairs on the butterflyÂ’s body. The rich light of sunrise makes the grass look like a ripened head of wheat and has transformed the stalk into a square rod of antique gold. This contrasts with the cold colours of its underexposed wings.
